Ljubljanski Dvor, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Ljubljanski Dvor - a classic pizza parlor in the heart of old town Ljubljana. They serve pizzas even when it is raining. Go for it - it's good.

Tadej Marinko, Sales Manager at DSC Slovenia and also country Manager of DSC Bulgaria, both of them Telco equipment Distributors. Worked for K&S Consulting and BeSolutions and uses a MotoQ a.k.a. RazrBerry. Skiing, sailing and traveling with Pisanec Family Travel Agency - a recommendation. Future might bring an MBA degree and possibly Gustav Käser type of business.

Not many pizzerias in Ljubljana or for that matter in any city can boast having 100 different sorts of pizzas. On the other hand, how often do you really order Sweet Chocolate Pizza?

Luka Gourmet Lunch Cafe, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Luka Gourmet Lunch Cafe, a nice, small restaurant in the heart of old town in Ljubljana. Cozy atmosphere and good food. They are so focused on food and service that they actually forgot to update their website. Don't mind the daily menu for November 11 2006 on the website and still do come. It's well worth it.

Marko Zagar (Žagar) a.k.a Mark Sawyer (žaga = a saw). Currently working for Varnost Ljubljana, with experiences also from Banka Domžale and Xerox. At home in Dobovlje, two young kids. Has a blog on Ski Challenge 08 tips'n'tricks and loves sport in general - an all grounder. Co-creator of Partynet - what goes on there, you can see here. Recently finished a fascinating story by Marlo Morgan and recommends 100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed. Sports. Sports. Sports.

Luka Gourmet have their own branded Teran red wine. 2006 was a good one.

Rival Fish Market, BTC City, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Rival Trade is one of the companies that provides Ljubljana with fresh sea products. They operate a fish market in BTC City and adjacent to it also a small fish deli restaurant. Rather long waiting line, strong smell of fish kitchen and not very good wine are fortunately outweighed by fresh and delicious fish servings. Overall a recommendation.

Alja Novak - a well known Slovenian shoe designer, creating her art footwear under the brand A.Viryent and inspired by her late grandfather Rado Virjent - a great man with French origin, hence the French name Viryent. Being very good in what you like doing most, does not leave much space for other things in your life, but she is nevertheless avid salsa dancer and occasional party goer. Given all the time and money in the world, she would still - not surprisingly - be making great shoes. And probably still re-reading Salvatore Ferragamo's Shoemaker of Dreams - as she does now, with delight.

Shoes with Idrija lace and Swarovski crystal stones and heels dipped in 24 carat gold.

Brioni, Kranj, Slovenia

Brioni - a very nice restaurant, bistro, café and lounge bar in center of Kranj. Instead of trying to describe it myself, I invite you to have a glance at a great Brioni related blog post by Le Samo. Thumbs up, for the place and Le Samo. Sometimes you can also get to see how to open sparkling wine upside down and in the water - Kristančič Puro style.

(Štefan) Stefan Furlan - Ph.D. student at FRI and co-founder of Optilab - a recently born company specializing in fraud detection software solutions. Lives in Šenčur, listens to podcasts, such as Twit. Worked at ADD, Adrianet, was involved in Gospodarski izziv with Blaž Kos and apart from golf, his stance toward sports resembles Winstone Churchill's - according to an anecdote: "I never, ever got involved in sport." Currently reading 3-d Negotiation and ahead of him is serial entrepreneurship while applying Google-style management.

Mobile operators are the modern rulers of the sky. "Salt is the sea that could not return to the sky". This might be the reason why Mobitel, our No.1 mobile operator in Slovenia, a while ago decided to purchase Sečovlje Salina - to spice up mobile conversations. In Brioni they served us "Mobitel" Piran Salt Flower.

And there was some more types of salt brought to our table, as my enthusiasm over salt was noted by the waiter ...

Hvala za rože, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Hvala za rože (Thank you for the flowers) - a newly opened bar and night club in Ljubljana. No web presence yet, but there were some disputes over loud crowds in the night.

Peter Poles - a pretty famous TV guy in Slovenia, hence no extensive introduction necessary as you can easily Google up info about him. Currently occupied with the show Zvezde Pojejo (Singing Stars). Born and raised in Velenje, worked as a tourist guide for Collegium, likes to play Texas hold'em with friends and is currently reading The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe. Hvala za rože was birthday party place of choice for him and friend Alan. Also noted on the #1 gossip journal site Pozareport.si. Happy birthday - this one and the one that comes - in much less then a year :)

Hvala za rože is a remodeled underground fish market. Funky place, enjoying the ride on the wave of "newly-opened-need-to-see" hype, equipped with several very intriguing rooms. You're encouraged to come and take a closer look.

Kitajska restavracija Hong Kong, Kamnik, Slovenia

Hong Kong, a very popular and according to reviews on dogaja.se and MojaGostilna.com also one of the best Chinese restaurants in Slovenia. I can only second that. Restaurant boss, a nice Chinese lady, has almost prefect Slovene language. A clear recommendation even if your suite smells for days after they serve sizzling Mongolian Beef dish in the same room.

Rod Petrovic (Petrović), senior developer at Parsek (a.k.a. stanzen Fabrik). With pure Belgrade blood in his veins, he came to Slovenia, when offered a job by Intera in Ptuj. Today he "appreciates the peace and clean air in his present habitat under the Alps - Kamnik, a suburb of Ljubljana", a quote taken from his site Rodpetrovic.com Part of his high school experience was in Bannock, Belmont County in Ohio, USA, today he is big on Semantic Web. Will apply for MPS - International Postgraduate School, reads Peopleware - Productive Projects and Teams book and Joel Spolsky, Guy Kawasaki blogs. And mine :) Soon he might have his own Twine-like company, together with his already acquired Lower Styria accent. He likes Slovenia and Slovenia likes him.

Some license plates really suck :) This KIA was parked in Črnuče, Ljubljana as I returned from Hong Kong, Kamnik. There are also other license plates that suck some times - such as a Slovenian one in the middle of Belgrade when your car brakes down.

Limes, Vienna, Austria

Limes - a place for urban people; modern design and good mood. an Austrian cuisine with Mediterranean impact; Copied from Limes flyer - agreeably so.

Mohamed Naceur Trabelsi - ISV Solutions Manager for IBM System p. His life journey started in Monastir in Tunisia and took him through Bilkent in Ankara in Turkey, UC Berkeley in USA, to Vienna where he lives now with his wife and 1 year old daughter Dina. With Arabic, French, English and Italian (due to Italian TV watching in Tunisia) language already under the hood, German is the next challenge. Not big on books, AIESEC member, will own a coffee shop franchise in Tunis some day, while building schools where there is not enough of them. Trabelsi literally means the people from Trablos, Arabic word for Tripoli, Libya. Naceur-from-Tripoli is a very nice guy.

They do let dogs in Limes. Somewhat gewöhnungsdürftig. If you don't speak German, just check out the meaning of this word. It comes in handy many times in life.

Mumok, Vienna, Austria

Mumok - Museum Moderner Kunst is a Museum in the first place, but they can also host certain business and other lounge parties - wine and buffet style catering. It's slightly mind boggling, but a cool place overall.

If the photo might be slightly blurry, the guys portrayed on it are pretty sharp.
Richard Neuwirth (on the left), director of networking, security and server solutions at S&T Group. Came to Vienna from Villach, worked for Lansky Ganzger law office. Meyer Lansky was a gangster in Las Vegas and is not related to the firm Richard worked for. Plays ice hockey and is In Pursuit of Excellence. Rateče is a nice village in Slovenia with good restaurants.
Hans (Humphrey) Juergen Bogad (on the right), IBM key account manager for S&T Group, raised in Kirchfidisch, Oberwart in Burgenland, driving around his young daughter and Norwegian wife in a BMW, likes surfing, particularly in El Yaque in Venezuela and is about to finish Amber room. Hacienda in Mexico with broadband Internet connection to re-order quality red wine and books, is what will complete him some time in the future. Count me in as a frequent visitor :)

Relatively uninteresting can be quite interesting. Bizarre, too.

Sushi Bambusova Zahrada, Apollo BC, Bratislava, Slovakia

Sushi Bambusova Zahrada is a busy Asian restaurant in Apollo Business Center, offering Chinese and Japanese dishes. All-you-can-eat wishes are also granted here.

Peter Kucer, newly appointed Managing Director of S&T Slovakia. Coming to Bratislava from Košice, he might be jokingly called "Košice mafia" by Bratislava natives. Ph.D. degree, came to S&T from IBM and before his IBM career he was also an assistant teacher at the university. Father of two and as his black belt karate days are already behind him, his best golf handicap days are still in front. Big on photography - exchanging hints&tricks with Kevin. Today enjoying The World is Flat and one day he will make sellers of all kinds become more successful as well as giving everybody an opportunity to enjoy a nice dinner in his seaside restaurant.

A glance at high-flying tenant names at Apollo Business Center, makes you sure that some serious business gets done there. Game on!
